Dental Implants
Dental Implants Manchester UK
When you have a missing tooth, you have several options at your disposal. One of which is to do nothing.
However, the problem with that is you will be left with a gap between your teeth, which may be very noticeable not to mention uncomfortable to chew on. The gap may also encourage bone loss, and your nearby teeth may start to drop down and grow in the wrong direction as a result.
Missing teeth can cause people to lose confidence, especially when it comes to smiling or public speaking. However, there are various options we can offer patients who have experienced tooth loss to help rebuild their smile.
Our dental implants are made by the world renowned Straumann. Founded in 1954, Straumann is a global leader in the production of dental implants.
Combined with our own 50 years of experience in dentistry, we can offer patients the very best care when it comes to dental implants.

Dental Implants
Implanting the titanium screw into the jaw is straightforward taking around 1 hour to complete under local anaesthetic. Some mild discomfort is to be expected, though we will give you plenty of aftercare advice.
Within about 2 weeks following your final treatment, you will have a fully functioning tooth that feels like your own. The implant is designed to be a permanent fixture, though this will also depend on how well you look after your teeth and gums.

What We Offer
Dental Implants Consultation
A thorough examination will also take place involving x-rays and impressions. We will also send you a referral for a CT scan so that we can check your bone density and volume.
Once we are happy that you will make a good candidate for dental implants, we will arrange for the procedure to go ahead.
Partial Dentures
Similar to other methods of replacing a lost tooth, dentures are made by taking an impression of your mouth. The denture will then be formed in a lab and fitted in separate appointments.
Dentures are designed to be worn during the day and removed at night. They will not feel like your natural teeth versus an implant or bridge, though they will allow you to chew properly.
Partial dentures may also be a viable option if you are not a suitable candidate for dental implants or a bridge.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are a fixed prosthesis that is cemented in place. Adhered to the neighbouring teeth, bridges can treat several missing teeth in one go. There are several types of dental bridges that are available.
Bridges can be an alternative to removable partial dentures depending on the number of teeth that are missing, in addition to the condition of the teeth on either side of the missing teeth.
Having a bridge fitted requires two appointments. The first appointment involves creating impressions to send to the laboratory who will create your bridge. The second appointment will be the fitting of the bridge.
Regular checkups in addition to diligent dental hygiene are needed to maintain your bridge. All of which will be explained to you by your dentist.
Dental Crowns
There are many reasons why a crown may be necessary. Decay, trauma, fillings or even the way we chew can make our teeth wear down. Placing a crown over a weakened tooth can prevent tooth breakage. Crowns are also used to restore stained or misshapen teeth or to protect a tooth that has had a root canal. A crown may also be used instead of a filling if your dentist deems the tooth doesn’t have enough structural integrity to hold a filling.
It usually takes a couple of visits to complete a dental crown treatment. First, your dentist will numb the area around your tooth to minimise any discomfort. The tooth will then be filed down so that the cap will be able to fit on top. An additional procedure known as a tooth buildup may be needed so that your tooth can fully support a crown.
A mould of your tooth will be taken so that your crown can be made. In the meantime, a temporary crown will be fitted. When your crown is ready, the temporary crown will be removed and the crown will be cemented in place. The final stage involves checking the fit of your crown, as some additional adjustments may be needed to ensure it sits perfectly without any discomfort.
