Umar Sharif is our principal dentist and has been qualified since 2011. Umar has worked in Manchester City Centre and Wythenshawe for over 10 years and enjoys transforming patient smiles with composite bonding and implants. Umar has undertaken various teaching roles with dental students and newly qualified dentists. Alongside, he has completed a post-graduate certificate in teaching and education.

Umar, ensures that he is up to date with the most recent developments in aesthetic dentistry by attending a variety of courses. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, going to the gym and spending time with his family and friends.

Amba Tejani-Sharif is our principal dentist and has been qualified since 2011 from the University of Leeds with distinction. Since qualifying Amba has worked in a number of dental settings, including general practice, orthodontics and community dental services.

She enjoys working with anxious patients in helping to restore and maintain their dental health. Children enjoy visiting the practice, especially when seeing Amba as she makes their visits enjoyable and fun. In her spare time, Amba enjoys exercising, socialising with friends and spending quality time with her two children.

Ceri graduated in 2011 and has since worked in a variety of dental settings. She undertook an extra training year in oral surgery and restorative dentistry before undertaking various teaching roles with dental students and newly qualified dentists. Alongside this she also completed a post-graduate certificate in teaching and education. She enjoys working with anxious patients and children enabling them to gain confidence to undergo dental treatment.

She has also worked part-time in the Community Dental Services for 10 years providing treatment for children under sedation, special needs children and adults and elderly patients in a domiciliary setting. She has been at Portway Dental Practice since 2019 and works on a Thursday. Outside of work you can usually find her running around after her 2 boys or enjoying the great outdoors!

Nadia qualified from Glasgow University in 2004. Nadia has over 17 years experience in working in mixed NHS/Private practices across the UK. Nadia enjoys working in General Dentistry due to the diversity of dental treatments she can provide and the rapport she builds with her patients. Nadia is always looking to broaden her knowledge and improve her skills, which prompted her to enrol onto a Professor Tipton Dental Course.

She has attained a Postgraduate diploma in aesthetic dentistry, and now has a better understanding of dental occlusion which is essential for dental restorations to be successful. Nadia is a mother to three energetic children who always keep her busy with fun activities such as cycling, swimming and football. Nadia enjoys to travel, soaking up beautiful scenery and meeting new people.

Dr. Nazia, a graduate of the University of Manchester (2012), brings a wealth of experience and passion to her dental practice. With a background in hospital Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, NHS, and private practice, she offers a comprehensive range of general dentistry services, including Invisalign and cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Nazia prioritizes continuous education, ensuring her patients receive the latest and most effective treatments, from routine fillings and root canals to crowns, dentures, veneers, and other aesthetic options. Her passion extends to smile makeovers using Invisalign technology.

Creating a comfortable and relaxing environment is paramount to Dr. Nazia. Her aim is to build trust and ensure patients feel at ease in the dental chair, fostering a positive experience for adults and children alike.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Nazia dedicates time to her family and young children. Baking and cooking for loved ones provides a welcome source of relaxation in her busy schedule.

Conor graduated from the University of Sheffield with honours in 2020. Following graduating he moved back home to Manchester beginning here at Portway Dental practice, he has cared for many of our patients over the following years, building great relationships and trust with those he cares for.

Conor spent 12 months in Australia in 2023 working in a practice in Sydney, expanding his knowledge in restorative dentistry and healthcare in a different culture. He returned to Portway following this to continue providing the highest quality care to our local community. He has interests in general restorative and cosmetic dentistry, including being an Invisalign provider.

In his spare time Conor enjoys keeping active playing football, running and also travelling with friends and family.

Cian qualified from the University of Central Lancashire in Dental Therapy in May 2021. Beforehand Cian was a dental nurse for 7 years and completed a number of post graduate courses to further her knowledge and progression in the dental field. Cian’s profession allows her to perform a number of dental procedures including restorative treatment, periodontal therapy and also sees direct access patients.

Cian is also focused on helping patients improve and maintain their oral hygiene, whilst showing great empathy. Cian’s main focus is that patients accept the best quality of treatments, whilst feeling comfortable and at ease. Cian enjoys socialising with friends and family. Cian has recently taken upon a new hobby of gardening and is getting used to growing her own veg!

Kirsty qualified in 2010 as a Dental Therapist at the University of Liverpool and became part of our team in 2017.

You can see Kirsty as part of your smile journey for routine dentistry, including hygiene, restorative treatments and preventative care. Focusing on patients individual needs and a combined passion for her profession, is able to provide exceptional dental care.

Kirsty enjoys exploring new countries and experiences with her family and friends.

Van Nayar our Practice Manager has been at Portway Dental Practice for two years. Throughout her career, Van has managed Dental Practices for over 15 years, was an Operations Manager as part of the NHS Prosthetics and Orthotics Departments as well as leading projects for a Marketing Company as a Senior Client Services Manager. Van is a mother of two and enjoys spending any spare time with her family.

Rebecca is our Dental Lead Nurse who is our longest standing member of the team and has worked at the practice for over 15 years. Rebecca has a dog called Alvin who she enjoys taking on long walks in the Lake District with her family.

Teegan is one of our qualified dental nurses who also assists Dr Sharif with his dental implant cases. Teegan has worked at Portway for two years now and has been a great mentor for many of the apprentice dental nurses in that time. Outside of work Teegan she likes to spend time with her friends and go to the pub!

Danielle has been working at Portway Dental Practice for over two years as a qualified dental nurse. Danielle likes to stay fit by attending a local pilates class and going to the gym, She also enjoys socialising with her friends at the weekend.

Katlyn has been working at our practice as one of our apprentice dental nurses for just over a year. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with family and friends and travelling with her identical twin sister! (Even we struggle to tell who is who!)

Taylor is an apprentice dental nurse and has been at Portway since October 2022. She is currently working towards her NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare.

Taylor has a keen interest in keeping fit and gardening and enjoys growing her tomatoes and chillies!

Kirsty has recently joined the Portway team and is enjoying her time in surgery and reception. Kirsty likes spending time with family and friends, going out and having fun. Kirsty also enjoys running in her spare time.

Mubeen has recently started working at Portway Dental Practice as an Dental Nurse Apprentice. Mubeen is enjoying her time in surgery, learning something new everyday. In her spare time Mubeen enjoys baking and cooking and spending time with her family.

Hayley is our lead receptionist and also a qualified dental nurse so is always on hand to step in when needed. She has worked with the Portway team for two years. Hayley has a son who keeps her extremely busy with his regular activities. Family time is also important to Hayley.

Shanae has been a receptionist at Portway for five years and has five years in the dental industry. Shanae is currently working towards a degree in fashion communication and marketing at the University of Chester. In her spare time she enjoys writing poetry and reading Jane Austen novels.

Kyia worked for Portway for over a year before taking a break and is now back joining the reception team. In her spare time Kyia loves making people feel pretty as provides a number of beauty treatments from her own business. She also enjoys being outdoors and working on her health and fitness.

Lisa is our domestic assistant who has been making the practice gleem since 2019!

Lisa loves to travel abroad with friends and when she is not jetting off she loves spending time with her three sons!
