The treatment involves wearing a series of aligners that will gradually move your teeth into the correct position. The aligners are made from clear plastic and are tailored to each patient.
Unlike braces, Invisalign is incredibly discreet and there is no major discomfort. The aligners are also removable, meaning brushing and flossing your teeth remains convenient. No major changes to dietary habits are required.
If you are in search of an affordable Invisalign dentist in Manchester, then we would be more than happy to help you. We can also provide finance options to make Invisalign more accessible to our patients.
What Does Invisalign Involve?
For Invisalign consultations, we use a digital scanner called an i-Tero scanner. This allows us to take virtual impressions of your teeth and will give you an idea of what can be achieved by the end of your treatment. We can also email the results to you so that you can make a more informed decision.
If you choose to go ahead, custom Invisalign trays will be made to fit your teeth. You’ll need to wear the trays for the recommended 20-22 hours a day. Every 2 weeks, you’ll be given a new tray as your teeth gradually move into place.
It can take 12 to 18 months to complete your Invisalign treatment. However, patients usually begin to notice changes within a few weeks.

METAL BRACES
Metal braces are the most common option for those looking to straighten their teeth and are available on the NHS.
As they are made from metal, the braces are much more durable than other brace types. However, a downside is that metal braces are more noticeable. That said, modern metal braces are more discreet than in previous times due to the advances in dental technology. It’s also possible to customise metal braces with different colours.
Ultimately, metal braces have stood the test of time because they are extremely effective in straightening crooked teeth. Suitable for all members of the family, metal braces take 24 months on average to move your teeth into the correct position.
CLEAR BRACES
Clear braces offer a more discreet alternative to traditional metal braces.
The brackets which sit on the surface of the tooth are either made from clear ceramic material or plastic polycarbonate. A white archwire can also be used which is less obvious than a coloured or metal wire.
If you opt for clear braces then you’ll need to learn new brushing techniques which we will explain to you after your treatment.
Clear braces are currently not offered on the NHS. However, they are something that we can provide on a private basis.
WHAT IS ORTHODONTICS?
Correcting your teeth will ensure your front and back teeth meet evenly, while also reducing the potential damage to other teeth due to stress the malpositioned teeth may be putting on your teeth or jaw. Therefore, as well as the cosmetic benefits, orthodontics looks to remove any pain or discomfort caused by teeth sitting in the incorrect place.
The correction of misaligned teeth involves the use of a device such as braces or Invisalign which will gradually move your teeth into a better position.
The length of orthodontic treatment will vary on an individual basis, though the average duration is between 12 and 24 months.
ISSUES CAUSED BY CROOKED TEETH
The decision of whether or not to fix crooked teeth should be a joint one between you and your dentist. In some cases, crooked teeth do not cause any problems. However, this is not always the case.
Periodontal Disease
Due to the teeth not being straight, it can be very difficult to clean your teeth properly, especially in between each tooth. As a result, you may be more likely to develop gum disease. Therefore, having your teeth straightened will help prevent the problem from occurring, as it will make it much easier to maintain your oral health.
